Tremont

The patented nPower® technology harnesses a vast and currently untapped source of renewable energy: low frequency vibration, such as ocean waves and human walking. nPower® generators produce zero emissions and can be scaled from less than 1 watt to more than 50 kilowatts.

tremont-productThe first technology application is the nPower® PEG, Personal Energy Generator. The fully commercialized nPower® PEG is a $149 wearable generator that recharges cell phones, Mp3 players, cameras, and GPS devices by harvesting the kinetic energy generated by human motion, through activities like walking, jogging, or biking.

Originally unveiled as a prototype at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show to rave reviews, the PEG went on sale in May of 2010 and is now shipping. More than 90% of Tremont Electric’s suppliers are located in Ohio, thus creating more local jobs and reducing carbon-emissions associated with shipping components. Tremont Electric anticipates increasing its workforce by 25 employees this year as sales and manufacturing needs increase.

Tremont Electric has been awarded the NorTech Innovation Award, Sustainable Brands Innovation Open Runner-Up, Inside Business Rising Star, and most recently named a finalist in the 2011 Consumer Electronics Association i-Stage competition.
