CLEVELAND, OH - October 13, 2010 – NorTech Energy Enterprise, an initiative of NorTech, today announced it will partner with Newry Corp., a management consulting firm, to develop a series of roadmaps in four distinct sectors of Northeast Ohio's advanced energy industry. The roadmaps, which provide strategies and action plans to achieve a shared regional vision, will be created for energy storage, transportation electrification, smart grid and biomass/waste-to-energy sectors.
Headquartered in Westlake, Ohio, with offices in Chicago and New York, Newry Corp. was selected for their expertise and global experience in developing innovative growth strategies and implementation plans for clients in the four advanced energy roadmap sectors. The firm has served large and small companies nationwide, as well as nonprofit organizations; they have worked on commercialization strategy for a wide range of technologies and industries.
"Newry's quantitative approach to gathering intelligence, global connections, and strong relationships with the private sector are key to NorTech's roadmap process," said Rebecca O. Bagley, president and chief executive officer of NorTech. "Their depth and breadth of market experience and knowledge in advanced energy make them an excellent partner in developing a competitive strategy to accelerate growth in the region's advanced energy cluster." NorTech conducted a nationally competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) process, and after an in-depth evaluation of five proposals, awarded the 9-month contract to Newry Corp. NorTech was granted a contract from the Economic Development Administration's Economic Adjustment Assistance Program in May 2010 to fund the project.
To develop the roadmaps, NorTech Energy Enterprise and Newry Corp. will engage regional, national and global industry, academic, government, and funding partners in an intensive combination of surveys, interviews, research, and workshops to gain valuable insight and input. The process will help identify the unique strengths of the region in the specific sectors; characterize the global market drivers and opportunities; assess the competitive landscape; and outline regional opportunities for growth. Initial work on roadmaps will begin in late October and conclude in June 2011. Upon completion, the roadmaps will be integrated into a regional action plan, which will serve as a tool to set priorities, focus regional resources to grow the region's advanced energy industry, and create jobs.
