Northeast Ohio has a rich history as a center of technological innovation and entrepreneurial activity.

Indeed, early in the 20th century our region was the “Silicon Valley” of its time: many of the newest technologies and ground-breaking technologies and products of the last century were developed here. The later half of the century, however, saw the region focus more on perfecting what it already had rather than inventing the new. The rate of new technology innovation fell. But as we make our way into the 21st century the region is poised to regain its position as a national leader in innovation, technology, and high-growth businesses. At the request of the Fund for Our Economic Future, NorTech is leading an effort to develop and communicate a comprehensive technology strategy that will drive innovation in the region by linking the region’s universities, companies, and entrepreneurs in new ways, bringing together novel concepts, fresh managerial talent, and new capital sources to build upon the region’s existing strengths and intellectual assets.
